Joyce DiDonato in the Film Oratorio “Eden in Olympia”

The acclaimed American mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato—renowned for her profound commitment to climate action, peace, and music education—stars in the extraordinary film project Eden in Olympia, a symbolic oratorio captured in the heart of ancient Olympia, just before the ceremonial lighting of the Olympic flame.

Together with the period-instrument ensemble Il Pomo d’Oro, the Children’s Chorus of the Greek National Opera, the French vocal group ChoeursECLATS, and El Sistema Greece Choir, Joyce DiDonato performs the Olympic Hymn—for the first time in history—in three languages: Greek, French, and English. This remarkable interpretation becomes a voice of unity, responsibility, and hope in the face of the global climate crisis.

Directed by Olivier Simonnet, acclaimed for his award-winning musical productions, the project was brought to life through the collaboration of the World Human Forum, Megaron – Athens Concert Hall, UNITEL, and ZDF, in partnership with ARTE and ERT.
