The tradition of a concert under the Eiffel Tower on France’s most important National Holiday (July 14), which began in 2015, was not even interrupted by a pandemic. The program of this concert is filled with classical music hits. Always eagerly listened to opera arias and duets, as well as instrumental pieces. Among the performers, the French dominate, but there are also favorites of French audiences from other countries. For example, our own Piotr Beczała has already performed under the tower twice.
There are no representatives of ours in this concert, but there is Daniil Trifonov, well known to observers of the Chopin competitions in Warsaw. Daniil took third place in 2010. According to many, he was the favorite in that competition and a contender for first prize, which he soon confirmed with victories in the Artur Rubinstein Competition in Tel Aviv (2011) and the Pyotr Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (2011).
The Concert from Paris (Le Concert de Paris), which is its official and internationally recognized name, ends with the singing of the French anthem (the Marseillaise) by all the performers. It’s just a pity that the recordings don’t include the dazzling fireworks display right after the concert, kicking off the joyous celebration of Parisians and visitors from all over France.
