A 30-year-old Japanese pianist with a true musical personality!
Hayato Sumino is a rising star, having won the Gold Medal at the Chopin International Piano Competition in Asia and reaching the semi-finals of the prestigious International Chopin Competition in Warsaw in 2021, where he captivated audiences with his thrilling interpretation of the Sonata in B-flat minor, Op. 35.
Since then, he has performed on major stages across Europe and Asia, collaborating with renowned ensembles such as the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra and the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra. In the summer of 2024, he appeared at three prestigious festivals: Rheingau Musik Festival (Germany), Gstaad Menuhin Festival (Switzerland), and Ravinia Festival (USA), where he made his debut with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Sumino records exclusively for Sony Classical and is also a global internet sensation – his YouTube channel “Cateen” has over 1.4 million subscribers. His artistry seamlessly blends classical music with improvisation, offering a fresh and innovative musical voice.
